We have just entered the second last month of 2020. What a crazy year this has been?! But it also has been a year with a lot of challenges and opportunities. Now we have two months left to achieve a few more goals and make the best out of this year. Do you usually set goals for the year? And/or monthly goals?
In the first week of January I usually take my note book to one of the Vancouver coffee shops and set my goals for the year. In 2019 I set 19 goals, this year 20 and guess what? Next year I will set 21 goals. Some are very concrete, like “Taking a business class”, others are more difficult to measure, like “living more consciously”. Next year, I would like to add a few more business-related goals.

So this week I took out my notebook and looked through my goals. What have I already achieved and what goals do I still want to pursue in the last months of this year?
Here are a few that I’ve already achieved:
Road trip with our new car: As we couldn’t travel this year, this was the perfect opportunity to take our Mini on a road trip to the Rocky Mountains
Cook more often and be more creative in the kitchen: Thanks to the lockdown, I finally took the time to cook more and try new recipes. I also backed a few times and I really enjoyed it. Definitely something positive that I took out of this lockdown.
Start calligraphy: Thank you to my wonderful friends who gave me a course for my birthday!
Spending more time outside and in nature: Thanks to our puppy that was an easy one.
Further education: I recently started a course in Digital Marketing at Brainstation.
Studying French and taking an international test: Check, just did that yesterday.
Goals that I have not yet achieved, but on which I want to work by the end of the year:
Replace plastic in our washroom : Something I have been working on for a while but never finished, there is still way too much plastic in our washroom. Currently I’m trying to finish my old products and replace them with plastic-free alternatives.
Read 24 books: I’m currently at 11 and reading three. It might be difficult to achieve this goal. I’m an avid reader of the New Yorker magazine which takes a considerable amount of my reading time. In any case, I will write a post about my book highlights 2020.
Eat more consciously: I had times this year when I really worked on that. Currently I’m eating so much chocolate and chips. My skin and sleeping cycle are not happy about it.
November will be for many of us a different month – many countries implemented another lockdown. A time that is difficult for many of us and it’s easy to lose sight of what matters. Now it’s more important than ever to focus on the good and stay on track – workout, write, meet your friends virtually, join a yoga challenge, take an online class, take a bath in the evening, go for walks – do whatever feels right. And if you cross off some 2020 goals along the way, even better. Feel free to share some of your 2020 goals with me in the comment section and which ones you already accomplished and which ones you would like to focus on over the last few weeks of this year.
