In today's post, I address the question of why my site focuses on personal branding specifically for women. After all, branding is something that is important for all of us. But I chose it for a very specific reason.
When we talk about business, leadership, personal development and branding, there is no doubt that we all need to address these topics. Personal branding has a great impact on our professional mobility and progression. A personal brand helps for others to recognize our achievements, skills and abilities. A good brand identity can put you on the path to leadership.

Why do Women need Personal Branding?
There are countless reasons why women specifically need good personal branding. Women have a very different starting point than men. They have to define themselves in a world of gender stereotypes and expectations. No matter what life path a woman chooses, she has to prove herself. A woman's personal brand is often (not always!), much more scrutinized.
Women are still underrepresented in management positions, receive less investment (>5% of VC funding goes to female founders) and especially these days they are highly affected by the Corona crisis. Historically, women played a completely different role in society and economy and in some parts of the world, they still do.
For this reason, it's important that we advocate for ourselves. We need to develop a clear personal brand, a strategic approach and a strong network. Because someone will give us a brand whether we want it or not. We don't have to sit around waiting for a company to give us that promotion or a raise, we have to ask for it. Men do, so we can do that too! But to ask for a promotion or a raise, your boss/team/supervisor needs to know what you stand for, what you've accomplished and where you can and want to grow.
So that's what this page is all about! Advices on how you can develop your personal brand. Interviews with other woman to hear how they did it. And resources that will support you on your mission.
Stay tuned for more material coming your way.
